Vetropack Austria trains technical specialists
Pöchlarn, in January 2020 – Vetropack Austria trains apprentices with exemplary commitment in the new apprenticeship of 'glass processing engineering' in its Pöchlarn and Kremsmünster plants in Lower Austria and Upper Austria respectively.
The 'glass processing engineering' apprenticeship was established in 2018 and combines the fields of engineering and automation technology with the know-how of glass manufacturing. Vetropack Austria will offer a further 11 new apprenticeships in this profession in 2020.
A multi-faceted profession
The glass processing engineering apprenticeship offers a diverse training programme and is particularly suitable for young people who take great pleasure in technology:
• Working with one of the most promising materials today and in the future.
• Monitoring and operating digital production systems
• Processing of various metals for machines and production plants
• Production of the glass batch and instruction in the chemical composition and technical
characteristics of glass.
• Operation, maintenance and programming of computer-controlled machines and robots
• Quality control and quality assurance
The apprentice workshop established last year provides an outstanding learning environment with a combination of state-of-the-art facilities and a challenging training schedule. Upon completion of their training, the young technicians are employed by one of the various technical departments. In 2019 Vetropack Austria was again awarded the INEO certificate of Upper Austria, a seal of approval given by the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce to businesses that exhibit an exemplary commitment to the training of apprentices.
«Our apprentices are experts in the fields of engineering and auto-mation technology. The know-how in the glass industry is unique and offers an abundance of opportunities for the future. I consider it particularly important to provide individual supervision to each of our trainees. We are helping these young people find their feet in their future profession», explains Johannes Schuster, head of ap-prentice training Vetropack Austria.

At present 31 apprentices are being trained in the professions of glass processing engineer and electrical engineer at Vetropack Austria’s two plants in Pöchlarn, Lower Austria, and Kremsmünster, Upper Austria.
